Prof Dr Drhc. Julio Acero is the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Ramon y Cajal and the Puerta de Hierro University Hospitals in Madrid, Spain, Full Professor of Surgery at the Alcala University of Madrid.

He studied Medicine and Dentistry and obtained his PhD at the university in Madrid. Dr. Acero was Research Fellow at the Spanish National Institute of Health and Research Fellow of the Council of Europe in Germany. Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Fellow Ad eundem of the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as Fellow and Examiner of the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IBCSOMS).

Prof Acero is a Member of the Spanish National Academy of Dental Sciences and foreign Member of the National Academy of Dentistry of Argentina. His special fields of interest are oncologic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck including the skull base and salivary gland pathology, as well as bone regeneration.

He has lectured and published widely in these fields and has been appointed as invited Professor in different universities around the world including the official appointments of Full Professor of the National University of Athens (Greece), Honorary Professor at the University of Ferrara (Italy), the University of Belgrade (Serbia), the University of Bucharest (Romania) and the National University of Nordeste (Corrientes, Argentina).

Visiting Professor at the University of Messina (Italy), Malaya University at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), University of Florida in Jacksonville and the Vanderbilt University (USA) and Doctor Honoris Causa (University of Iasi, Romania).

Distinguished Fellow Award of the IAOMS, Honorary Member of the Latin-American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ALACIBU) and of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS), Distinguished Fellow of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, Honorary Member of the National OMFS Societies of Argentina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Turkey and the North Macedonian Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons.

IAOMS Outstanding Committee Member Award presented in the ICOMS, Shanghai 2009, Humanitarian Award of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, presented in Puerto Rico 2016. President of the IAOMS 2016-2017, past Director of the Fellowships Committee of the IAOMS, Past Chairman of the IAOMS Education Committee and current Chairman of the IAOMS Visiting Scholar Program.

Prof. Acero was the Education and Training Officer of the European Association of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS), currently President of the European Association.

Past Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and former President of the Spanish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

He has been organizing and coordinating international educational programmes in OMF Surgery throughout the world: Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Skopje), Latin America (Peru, Paraguay, El Salvador), Asia ( Indonesia, Philippines) and Africa (Kenya, Tanzania,,Nigeria)

Stephen E. Feinberg, DDS, MS, PhD, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and Professor in the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Surgery, School of Medicine and Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry, School of Dentistry, University of Michigan. He has been past Chairman and Associate Chair of Research of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan, past Chairman of Section on “Research and Emerging Technologies”, Editorial Board: International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Chairman, Research Committee, International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Research Planning and Technology Assessment, American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Feinberg is the recipient of the 1976 Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Research Fellowship and the 2004 recipient of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Research Recognition Award. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to temporomandibular joint surgery and reconstruction and to the use of tissue engineering/regenerative medicine approach to soft and hard tissue reconstruction of the craniomaxillofacial region resulting in over 150 publications and book chapters in these areas.

Dr. Feinberg is a founding member and chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of a University of Michigan “spin off” biotechnology company, Tissue Regeneration Systems and a past consultant to the United States military on tissue engineering/regenerative medicine applications to facial reconstruction. Dr. Feinberg was the prime organizer and coordinator for the symposium held last January 2012 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on “Building a Face Using a Tissue Engineering/Regenerative Medicine Approach”.

Dr. Feinberg is one of the few surgeon-scientists in oral and maxillofacial surgery who have a PhD in addition to their surgical training. He has been a PI or co-Investigator on several previous University, Foundation, NIH and DoD funded grants over the last 20 years in the area of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This background permits Dr. Feinberg to understand basic experimental design which allows him to interact with his basic research colleagues on a more productive and interactive level. Lastly, he has successfully submitted and had approved an investigator-initiated IND to CBER/FDA involving a tissue engineered human oral mucosa and was/is the PI on a successful Phase I and Phase II clinical trials, respectively. This experience has given him insight and understanding of what it takes to bring a tissue engineered device/product to the market/clinic to treat patients.

Dr. Fernandes is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with Certificate of Added Qualification in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida and holds appointments in the Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedic Surgery and Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Currently, he serves as the Chief of Head and Neck Surgery, Director of the Head and Neck/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery fellowship, Director of the Center for Reconstructive Surgery, Co-Director of the Skull Base Surgery Program and Associate Chairman of the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Fernandes is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (ad. Hominem), as well as many other surgical and medical associations in the USA. He is an honorary fellow of the Spanish Society of OMS, the Mexican Association of OMS, Pakistan Association of OMS, and the Costa Rican Society of OMS.

He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally and has authored numerous manuscripts in the areas of head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery as well a single author textbook Atlas of Local Regional Flaps in Head and Neck Surgery and is co-editor of the recently published textbook Oral, Head Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery.

Professor Kanatas is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with special interests in Oral Oncology, Oral and Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Clinical education. He is a full-time clinician with extensive clinical and research experience and is the author of several book chapters and co-editor of three books.

He is an international authority in patient-centred outcomes following head and neck cancer and has validated several outcome-related instruments that changed clinical practice. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a co-chairman of the Bochum Free flap and Microvascular course in Germany and he is part of the team that trained 1000 surgeons from 100 countries (September 2017). He is the Lead for research (OMFS)- Leeds (Since 2015) and an Expert reviewer for the Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Programme (NIHR), UK.

His current funded research in the University of Leeds, relates to the evaluation of the Patient Concerns Inventory (PCI) and to the efficacy of High Intensity Ultrasound (HIFU) and nanoparticles in the management of head and neck cancer.

Dr. Constantinos Laskarides is the Program Director of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Associate Professor for Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center. He received his DMD degree from Tufts University and both his DDS and PharmD degrees from the University of Athens in Greece. He completed his residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center in 2003. He’s been a full-time faculty for Tufts since 2006.

Dr. Laskarides is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of: the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.

He is also among the less than 10% of the Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons in US currently recognized as Fellows of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
