Dr. Mercuri is a Life Member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a Retired Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the recipient of the 2009 Oral and Maxillofacial Foundation Research Recognition Award, and the 2010 William J. Gies Foundation Distinguished Achievement Award in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2011, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the Faculty of Dental Surgery. He is the inaugural recipient of the ASTMJS Louis G. Mercuri Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of TMJ Surgeons.

Dr. Mercuri is presently Visiting Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center Chicago, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Chicago, President of the UIC Institute of Biomaterials, Tribocorrosion, Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine, and a Clinical Consultant for TMJ Concepts, Ventura California.

Η Δρ. Ζωή Νικολάου είναι Στοματικός και Γναθοπροσωπικός Χειρουργός. Εκπαιδεύτηκε στην Στοματική και Γναθοπροσωπική Χειρουργική στο Rabin Medical Center του Πανεπιστημίου του Τελ – Αβίβ στο Ισραήλ. Εργάστηκε ως επιστημονικός συνεργάτης στην Κλινική Στοματικής και Γναθοπροσωπικής Χειρουργικής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών για δύο χρόνια μετά την αποφοίτηση της από την Οδοντιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών το 1992 και είχε την τιμή να απαγγείλει τον όρκο στην τελετή ορκωμοσίας.
Από το 2000 ασκεί το επάγγελμα του Στοματικού και Γναθοπροσωπικού Χειρουργού στην Λεμεσό με έμφαση στα άτομα με δυσμορφίες προσώπου. Για αυτό το λόγο συνεργάζεται με το Κυπριακό Κέντρο για άτομα με σχιστίες και άλλες κρανιοπροσωπικές ανωμαλίες (MEDICLEFT), στο οποίο, μια ομάδα αφοσιωμένων ιατρών, συνεργάζονται για να εξετάσουν και να θεραπεύσουν ασθενείς με παρόμοια προβλήματα. Ενώ, το πάθος της περιστρέφεται γύρω από το πεδίο της Ορθογναθικής Χειρουργικής.
Το 2014 ίδρυσε την Κυπριακή Εταιρεία Στοματικής και Γναθοπροσωπικής Χειρουργικής και αποτέλεσε η πρώτη πρόεδρος της επιστημονικής εταιρείας. Επιπρόσθετα, από τον Νοέμβριο του 2014 εκλέγηκε Αντιπρόεδρος του Διεθνούς Κολλεγίου Γναθοπροσωπικής Χειρουργικής (ICMFS) και τον Οκτώβριο του 2015 διοργάνωσε στην πατρίδα της, στην πόλη της Λεμεσού το 29ο Παγκόσμιο Συνέδριο Γναθοπροσωπικής Χειρουργικής, ICMFS 2015 με πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία.
Η Δρ. Ζωή Νικολάου υπηρετεί από το 2016 ως αντιπρόσωπος της Κύπρου στον Διεθνή Οργανισμό Στοματικής και Γναθοπροσωπικής Χειρουργικής (IAOMS) καθώς επίσης αποτελεί ενεργό μέλος του Ευρωπαϊκού Οργανισμού Στοματικής και Γναθοπροσωπικής Χειρουργικής (EACMFS).
Η συνεχής εκπαίδευση και κατάρτιση, αποτελεί πυξίδα για την επαγγελματική της πορεία. Αυτή την περίοδο βρίσκεται σε διαδικασία εκπόνησης διδακτορικής διατριβής ενώ παράλληλα προσφέρει τις γνώσεις της σε φοιτητές της ιατρικής σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Λευκωσίας σε συνεργασία με το Πανεπιστήμιο St. George’s του Λονδίνου ως κλινικός συνεργάτης.
Τέλος, η Δρ. Ζωή Νικολάου βραβεύτηκε με τον τίτλο ¨Γυναίκα Επιχειρηματίας της Χρονιάς 2018¨ στα 12α Κυπριακά βραβεία Γυναικείας Επιχειρηματικότητας μεταξύ άλλων σημαντικών γυναικών της χώρας. Διατηρεί πλούσια φιλανθρωπική δράση, είναι παντρεμένη και έχει τρία υπέροχα παιδιά.

Teresa O, MD, MArch FACS, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hemangiomas and vascular lesions in all ages. She is a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who works closely with Dr. Waner in the medical and surgical management of vascular lesions. Dr. O is also an expert in treating patients with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). She has dual training in facial nerve paralysis and reanimation and is also Director of the Facial Nerve Center at Lenox Hill Hospital and the New York Facial paralysis Center. Dr. O is dual board certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. O matriculated at Cornell University as an architecture student (B.Arch, M.Arch). She later graduated from Boston University Medical School. She completed a residency in Head and Neck Surgery at the New York Eye, and Ear Infirmary and received fellowship training with Dr. Waner in vascular anomalies. After seeing many patients with the devastating sequelae of facial paralysis, Dr. O pursued further training in facial nerve reanimation with Drs. Hadlock and Cheney at the Massachusetts Eye, and Ear Infirmary in Boston.

Currently, she has restricted her practice to patients with vascular anomalies or facial paralysis. She is Director of the Facial Nerve Center at Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospitals and the New York Facial Paralysis Center in New York. Interestingly, Dr. O’s past as a licensed architect informs her approach to 3-D reconstruction.

She is involved in clinical and basic science research and collaborates with labs at Stonybrook University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. O has lectured internationally, and authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and 17 textbook chapters. She has also edited a textbook on Vascular Anomalies of the Head and Neck and one on facial palsy. Dr. O is a member of several major national and international medical associations including The American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS), The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and The International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA). She serves on several education committes at the AAO-HNS.

Michael Pikos

Dr. Michael A. Pikos – Dr. Pikos is originally from Campbell, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos completed an internship at Miami Valley Hospital and residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Pikos is the recipient of the 2006 Aaron Gershkoff Memorial Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the 2015 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Top Educator. He is also the first recipient of the Carl E. Misch Advanced Dental Implant Studies Education Award (2017).

He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. He is also a Courtesy Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology and Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, Adjunct Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, School of Dentistry, and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology, University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Pikos is on the Editorial Board of the following journals: Implant Dentistry, Inside Dentistry, the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry.
As an OMS, he is one of the first clinicians to recognize the relevance of Cone Beam CT and interactive CT technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning along with its implementation for implant based oral rehabilitation. As a result, Dr. Pikos has made this high technology a cornerstone of both his private practice and Institute.

Dr. Pikos has extensive experience in implant surgery and hard and soft tissue procedures. He also emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation.

Dr. Pikos is the author of the book “Bone Augmentation in Implant Dentistry” published by Quintessence Publishing. He has lectured extensively on dental implants in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Dr. Pikos is an active member and frequent lecturer for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Periodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr. Pikos is founder and CEO of the Pikos Institute. Phillip Pirgousis

Phillip Pirgousis, M.D., D.M.D., is a head and neck surgeon who specializes in head and neck oncology and skull base tumor surgery in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Mayo Clinic hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. He performs microvascular reconstructive surgeries for defects in the head and neck and skull base regions, which treat various deformities and cancers.

Dr. Pirgousis earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, South Australia, where he also earned his Doctor of Medicine. He went on to become chief resident of general surgery and a fellow at institutions in Australia and England and completed his residency in maxillofacial surgery. Afterwards, he completed a reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he was chair of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Pirgousis speaks English and Greek, has contributed to numerous medical journals and book chapters, and is a member of multiple societies and associations within his specialty area.

Constantinus Politis is Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgeon.

He is currently Full Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Leuven University Hospitals, KULeuven, Belgium. He is an invited Lecturer at the EHSAL in Brussels. He graduated at the Catholic University of Leuven in medicine (MD, summa cum laude), in dentistry (DDS, magna cum laude). He specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Catholic University of Leuven.

Postgraduate training was additionally followed in Arnhem (Stoelinga), Aachen (Koberg), Copenhagen (Pindborg), Göteborg (Bränemark) and San Francisco (Marx). He holds an honorary professorship at the Fourth Medical Military University of Xi’an, China. He also holds a master degree in management (MM) from the Applied Economic Scienes at the University of Hasselt and a master degree in Hospital Management (MHM) from the Catholic University of Leuven.

He became a recognition as medical specialist in management of health care data and is now member of the National Council of Hospital Facilities.

He is Vice-President of the Professional Union of Belgian Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is acknowledged trainer of OMFS trainees.

He defended his doctor’s thesis on the subject of complications of orthognathic surgery (PhD). His professional field of interest is in orthognathic and orthodontic surgery and trigeminal nerve dysfunction. Clinical research projects include prevention and repair of iatrogenic trigeminal nerve injury, transplantation of teeth and orthognathic surgery. He recently has been granted membership of the Belgian Royal Academy of Medicine.
